Current Challenges For Global Nuclear Governance

Open to the Public

This talk will examine the mounting challenges confronting global nuclear governance, focusing on the roles and limitations of the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty amid renewed U.S. debate over nuclear testing. Featuring insights from David Nusbaum and Laura Holgate, this timely discussion brings together leading experts to assess pressures stemming from geopolitical rivalry, noncompliance concerns, technological advances, and the erosion of arms control norms. The conversation will explore how these dynamics strain existing institutions and consider pathways to strengthen verification, enforcement, and international cooperation in an increasingly contested nuclear landscape.
