The Rise of China: Energy and Environmental Implications
Presentation at the National Academies 2008 Energy Summit, Washington, D.C.
In this presentation, Kelly Sims Gallagher discusses the environmental and energy implications of China's economic growth in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Gallagher provides a context for energy demand in China, and highlights the coal-related energy and environmental challenges facing China today, China's influence on global energy prices and environmental quality, and global climate change and its impact on China. Finally, she offers conclusions about the prospects for international energy cooperation with China.
