Spenser A. Warren is a Stanton Nuclear Security Postdoctoral Fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. His research focuses on nuclear strategy, the role of emerging technologies in international politics, the dynamics of escalation and war termination, and great power competition. Regionally, his work primarily focuses on Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and South Asia. His current book project explores the causes and consequences of Russian nuclear modernization in the 21st century.

He was previously a Postdoctoral Fellow in Technology and International Security at the University of California Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation, jointly funded by the Los Alamos National Laboratory Center for National Security and International Studies and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Center for Global Security Research. He received a Ph.D. in Political Science from Indiana University Bloomington, where he was a Graduate Affiliate of the Indiana University Russian Studies Workshop, and a B.A. in International Relations and Russian Studies from Michigan State University.
